Main Street Brewing finally opened their doors in June this year and has come on to the Vancouver craft beer scene strong. Most days they offer 4 different draft beers as well as 4 beers on cask, with all draft being available in growlers too. They also have a nice selection of bar snacks and a small food menu including some charcuterie, various dips and daily meat and veggie sandwich options. Head there for their Pulled Pork Sandwich paired with the Main Street Sessional IPA.
Their pulled pork sandwich is one that is on rotation often and comes with subtly sweet and spicy pulled pork, guacamole, mayo and pickled onions on a perfectly toasted soft bun. The pulled pork offers up a little spice and isn’t overly fatty which I like. The guacamole is creamy and cool with notes of lime and cilantro that help mellow the pork’s subtle spice. The pickled onions deliver a nice acidic element as well as a perfect crunchy texture. This pulled pork sandwich is simple but unique enough to be a memorable one.
Main Street’s Sessional IPA was just awarded a gold medal at the BC Beer Awards in the North American Ale category. A nice honour fresh out of the gate for a new brewery I’d say. This sessional IPA’s hop aroma is bright and fresh and its hop flavour immediately finds the citrus in the guacamole. This low ABV India Pale Ale finishes really clean which takes care of the small amount of fat from the pulled pork. With Main Street’s rotating sandwich menu you’re sure to find a something to pair up with one of their great beers any day of the week.
So if you’re looking for the best sessional IPA in BC paired with a great pulled pork sandwich, then head to Main Street Brewing for This Sandwich and That Beer.
