Last weekend I got a chance to head up a few hours north of the city to check out the Whistler Village Beer Festival. Now, I’m not sure there is a better location for a beer festival anywhere in BC, Canada or maybe even North America. The setting is simply spectacular.
Now I don’t know about you but what’s better than spending the morning at a beautiful lake surrounded by epic mountains and then going to a beer festival featuring 60+ craft breweries from around the world. Not much, that’s what. The festival featured a great selection of some of my favourite breweries pouring some of my favourite craft beers as well as a few that were brand new to me. Some of the stand outs were the Choqlette Porter from Bomber Brewing, the Ginormous Imperial IPA from Gigantic Brewing and the Grand Cuvee Porter Baltique from Les Trois Mousquetaires. With so many outstanding beers it was impossible to try them all, but every brewery did a great job and were pouring fantastic beers for 3000+ people in attendance.
I checked out a couple other events that were happening around the village including the Parallel 49 Moustache Ride party and a couple of the cask showdowns that featured beers from Driftwood Brewery, Gigantic Brewing, Deschutes Brewing and a few others. I was also at the Best In Fest announcement at the Longhorn Saloon where Parallel 49 Brewing was named the top brewery at the festival. Congrats dudes!
I think this is a super fun festival in one the best spots imaginable and look forward to next year!
Cheers!
It sure was an amazing event. I look forward to checking it out next year and see how much better it could be. They say third times the charm don’t they?
